1. Moon Video Portrait Stills Part 1

I’m working on a video of my week in Moon, VA. One of things going into the video is short video portraits of each person that attended the retreat. This is an interesting process, because I was shooting quickly, still learning the camera, and couldn’t pay as much attention to composition as I would like. I compensated by getting as much footage as possible, and now after the fact, scrubbing through the footage frame by frame to hone in on just the right moment, a confluence of the right composition, lighting, focus, and expression on the subjects face. Generally this was 20 to 30 seconds into filming them, once they relaxed enough to let down there guard. I’m pulling out these stills as an initial curatorial step. Most likely the second and half or so around these frames are what will be used in the final video. Tumblr won’t let me post the whole set, so I’m splitting it into two posts.

Also, I should note that regretfully I only decided to do these video portraits a few days into the week, at which point both Lauren and Roxanna had already left. So unfortunately I don’t have footage of everyone.
